Deputy Director of Nursing Services
The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health responsible for the management and operation of Public Health Services within the Parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following position: Deputy Director of Nursing Services (HPC/RN4).
Location: Black River Hospital
Job Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for administering nursing services in a Type “C” Hospital
Qualifications
- Certificate/Degree in Nursing Administration/Health Services Administration;
- Certificate/Degree in General Nursing from an accredited institution;
- Midwifery Certificate from an accredited School of Nursing;
- Four (4) to five (5) years experience in Nursing Administration, exclusive of clinical experience;
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica in General Nursing and Midwifery.
Specific knowledge required
- Professional nursing theory and practice
- Principles of hospital administration and modern management practices
- Excellent leadership skills
- Nursing, health and related legislation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of the principles of hospital administration
- Human Resource Policies and Procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting in maintaining communication between nursing personnel and other members of the health team.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of the philosophy, objectives, policies and standards for nursing within the hospital.
- Assisting in budgetary exercise to ensure numbers and levels of nursing personnel, equipment and supplies.
- Playing a major role in the recruitment of nurses and identifying and ensuring training needs are met.
Salary
Salary range is $1,869,996 to $2,222,838 per annum plus applicable allowance(s).
